The fundamental difference
In first or business class you buy a seat on a flight with a fixed schedule, route and airport. On a private jet you charter the whole aircraft, with its crew, and the flight is built around your schedule. That difference explains all the others.
First class suits someone travelling alone or as a couple, on a long route well served by airlines, at a time that works for them. A private jet makes sense when time, privacy, flexibility or travelling as a group matter. In this guide we treat first and business class alike: the comparison is the same.
Door-to-door time
Flight time is similar; the difference is on the ground. With an airline you need to arrive early, check in, drop your bags, go through security and wait to board. For international flights, airlines usually ask you to be there about three hours before departure. On arrival, there is still the wait for your bags.
Flying private with Flyzar, you arrive at our private terminal in San Fernando, 25 km from downtown Buenos Aires, shortly before departure. If the flight is international, immigration and customs are handled right there. You board, and your luggage goes with you.
The flight is also direct, with no connections or changes of aircraft. On routes where the airline makes you connect through another city, the difference can be several hours. On a business trip, that makes a same-day return possible.
Privacy and the cabin
In first class the seat is spacious and the service attentive, but you share the cabin with strangers and the airport with thousands of people. On a private jet, only the people you choose are on board: you can talk business, work with your team or rest without anyone listening.
The cabin is also entirely yours. The Gulfstreams in our fleet have cabins more than 13 m long and 1.88 m tall, so you can stand and walk around, with up to 5 beds; LV-VEG adds a shower. The Challenger 605 has the widest cabin in its class. And the Gulfstreams carry Starlink, so you stay connected throughout the flight.
Flexibility and airports
With an airline, the airline sets the schedule and you depend on it. On a private flight, you set the time. If a meeting runs long or plans change, you can ask our operations team, available 24 hours a day, about changing the time.
A private jet also opens up airports that airlines do not use, or rarely do. You can land closer to your final destination, at smaller airports and airfields, as long as the runway suits the aircraft. In Punta del Este we have our own FBO and private terminal, just as in San Fernando.
For short hops or places with no runway, such as ranches and estates, there is the Bell 429 helicopter, with up to 6 passengers.
Pets, luggage and groups
Pets. On airlines, large pets usually travel in the hold, and small ones in the cabin, in a carrier and within size limits. At Flyzar, pets travel in the cabin, next to their owners.
Luggage. First class has a generous allowance, but with a limit on pieces and weight per passenger. On a private flight there is no per-passenger allowance: the limit is the aircraft's hold, from 5 bags in a Learjet 60 to 20 in a Gulfstream V. Golf clubs or skis are arranged when you request a quote.
Groups. In first class each person buys a ticket and, for a large group, there may not be room for everyone in the same cabin. On a private jet you charter the whole aircraft, so the cost of the flight is shared among those on board. A family or a team flies together, with up to 10 passengers on the Challenger 605 or up to 14 on a Gulfstream.
When each one makes sense
They are not really competing products: they solve different needs. If you want to compare for a specific trip, message us on WhatsApp or by email with the route, date and number of passengers, and we will send you a proposal. As a guide:
- First or business class: you are travelling alone or as a couple, on a long route with frequent direct flights, and the airline's schedule suits you.
- Private jet: your time is worth more than the logistics of a commercial airport, or you need a same-day return.
- Private jet: you are travelling as a group, with family or with a team.
- Private jet: your destination has no direct flights or is far from the airport the airline serves.
- Private jet: you are flying with your pet or sports equipment, or you need complete privacy.
